December 2019 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The Early Achievers met at 2 p.m. on December 8th to deliver goodie bags to members of the Early community. The 4-H members split into six groups to deliver 38 bags and sing Christmas carols. The December meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order 8th at 3 o’clock by President Logan Pickhinke. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Grace Freese, Joe Goettsch and Emma Mentzer. Secretary Maddy Horan read the roll call and read the minutes from the previous meeting. Ross Mentzer motioned to approve the minutes and Joe Goettsch approved them, the minutes read by Maddy passed. Next Mason Wolf read the Treasurer’s report which was moved by Joe and seconded by Connor Pickhinke.

Old Business of the meeting included: Reviewing the Early Achievers Club Lock-in. We talked about the success of the lock-in and discussed any changes members would like to make to next years lock-in. Members also took a photo with Loring Hospital Auxiliary representative Karen Blass who received the five tie blankets we had made lock-in. Next item of business we discussed was re-enrolling using the 4-H website by the deadline December 31st and paying their annual club dues to treasurer. Logan Blum and Alex Movall told the club about the Blanket and Book Donations and applying for the 4-H Endowment Grant for this citizenship project. Christy Horan talked to the club about using our citizenship fund to buy a basketball hoop for the Early City Park. The club discussed donating part of the profits from the Valentine Dinner to the Sac Fairboard Raise the Roof Project at a ‘Grand Champion’ level.

New Business from the meeting: Early Achievers were reminded that the Beef Weigh-in for members with cattle will be January 4th from 1-3. Members showing livestock of any kind should fill out their YQCA training, more information about the training is available in the county newsletter. Eryn Schmidt and Grace Freese discussed updates for the Valentine Dinner which will be held on Sunday, February 16th. Members were reminded to dress up for the dinner and tickets were handed out for members to sell by Jan. 19th. Valentine Dinner posters will be hung by Joe G. And Grace F.

Adjourn the Meeting was moved by Joe Goettsch and seconded by Logan Blum.

We concluded with our annual Christmas Gift Exchange, then recreation by Connor Pickhinke and Mason Wolf, and pizza followed.

Our next Early Achievers meeting with be January 19th, 2020 at 4 p.m.

The club also donated 150 books and helped purchase quilt supplies for the Schaller-Crestland Community Toy Drive.

November 2019 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The November meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club started with the Installation of officers. The meeting was called to order by Logan Pickhinke and the Pledge to the American flag was led by Connor Pickhinke. Roll call by Maddie Horan was “Name a product of Iowa”, our club added three new members: Kaiden K, Miranda M., and Izzy S. Next minutes were read by Maddie and the minutes were approved by Connor and seconded by Drew Blum. Mason Wolf read the treasurers report, it was moved by Alex Movall and seconded by Grant Movall.

Old Business: Members discussed the Sac County Awards night and reviewed how we did as a club. Leaders discussed our Soup and Cookie Fundraiser for the year. Connor and Logan Blum discussed the Pop Tabs for Jacy and State Council’s involvement with the collection project. Logan Pickhinke gave updates on the Trail Mix for Farmers and Hygiene Bundle Citizenship projects. There were 190 bags of Trail Mix made. Half of the bags went to Early’s elevator, the other half went to Schaller. Another hygiene bundle sewing workshop was held where 45 new bundles were made. These bundles are being sent with the local Petal Pushers to Skid Row in California.

The Citizenship fund committee reported possible ideas they had for helping the Early community. Members were reminded to enroll online using the Iowa 4-H website and to pay the treasurer their membership dues.

New Business: Members discussed projects for Club Lock-in activities on November 22-23rd including: Penny Boats, Tie Blankets for Loring Hospital Auxiliary and ER, Sewing Trees for a nursing home, canvas painting, cookie baking and decorating, designing rockets, decorating goodie bags, and communications activity. Recreation activities throughout the night include: Escape Room with Steph Erpelding, Frozen t-shirts, Ships and Sailors, and a movie at bedtime. Snacks and breakfast will be served. Members should bring a sleeping bag, pj’s, an empty 2-liter pop bottle for rockets, and a good attitude.

Eryn Schmitt and Grace Freese will be co-chairs for the 10th Annual Valentine Dinner fundraiser to be held on February 16, 2020. The Silent Auction Basket committee updated us on the Dec. 7th Sac County Fairboard Raise the Roof Steak Supper. Member discussed the December Meeting agenda which includes goodie bag delivery and Christmas gift exchange. Logan Blum and Connor also discussed the State Conference theme ‘4-H: Go for the Gold’ and how to attend state events.

There are several opportunities coming up. State Recognition applications for grades 9-12 are due Feb 1st using 4HOnline. The CWF trip will be June 19-27 for grades 9-12. Register by January 17 if interested. The 4-H Endowment offers three $250 grants for clubs (and high school graduates). Contact Steph for details.

With no other business to discuss there was a motion by Joe and a second by Mason to adjourn the meeting. The 4-H pledge was led by Katie Pickhinke. A presentation was given by Connor Pickhinke and Alex Movall about their National 4-H Congress trip. Dinner was hosted by Katie Pickhinke. Prior to the meeting Maddy Horan and Drew Blum presented their working exhibits 'Krazy Korners' bookmark and Alex Movall and Grant Movall shared their working exhibit 'Know your Caffeine'.

January 2019 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The January meeting of the Early Achievers was called to order by Rachel Kenny at 4 PM on January 20, 2019. The pledge to the American flag was led by Joe Goettsch and Connor Pickhinke. Roll Call was name your favorite basketball team with 16 members responding. Alexis Clark read the minutes and Joe Goettsch motioned to approve them and Madelyn Horan seconded it. Then Eryn Schmitt read the treasures report and Logan Pickhinke motioned to approve it and Connor Pickhinke seconded it.

Old Business: Reminder the Valentines Dinner is February 10th 4-Hers were supposed to turn in money this meeting. All members we are decorating on Wednesday February 6th after school. On February 3rd senior members only are decorating the ceiling. Plan to dress up and arrive at Sacred Heart Parish Center with the dessert you were to make at 4:15 PM for the first shift second shift starts at 5:30 PM. Remember to pay your $10 dues to the treasurer Eryn. Grant Movall gave an update on how the Secret Santa Shopping went. Next Logan Pickhinke gave an update on the stuffed animal and book drive report . Remember to do your YQCA training if you are showing livestock and get a coupon from Steph. The Beef Weigh-in was January 5th and Rachel Kenny gave an update on that and remember to verify your beef online. Logan Pickhinke needs help sewing hygiene packs and he is looking for volunteers to do that. Relay for Life is now scheduled for June 1, 2019 from 5:30-10:30 PM at the Sac Elementary Gym. The theme this year is “Give Cancer the Boot”. We are looking for people to sell daffodils they will need to be turned in by February 12th and pick up is on March 19th.

New Business: Family Fun Night is coming up. The committee will meet after super to discuss where to go. Jen gave the healthy living update and we had apples at our supper for our healthy food.

Oppurtunities: The 2019 State Recognition and Scholarships are due February 1st for high school students. There is an ice fishing clinic for grades 1st-7th on February 2nd from 9 AM to noon you need to RSVP. 4-H legislative day is February 13th. The Int/Sr area ski trip is February 15th-16th for grades 7th-12th. The Sac County Junior Lock-In is February 22nd-23rd grades 4th-6th register by February 8th.

Joe Goettsch and Connor Pickhinke did a working exhibit and Rachel Kenny did a presentation. Then we did the Valentines Dinner training. The next meeting is February 17, 2019 at 4 PM.

December 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The December Meeting of the Early Achievers was called to order on Sunday December 2, 2018 at 2 PM. The first thing we did was deliver the goodie bags and sang Christmas carrols to the elderly in Early. Then we came back and had the meeting. The pledge to the American Flag was led by Logan Blum, Drew Blum, and Peyton Turnquist. Roll Call was Name Your Favorite Christmas Song. After that Cora read the minutes from the last meeting. Then Eryn read the treasurers report.

Old Business: Steph wants everybody re-enrolled in 4-H online by January 1st. We reminded everybody that they needed to pay their $10 dues to Cora. The pans that everybody ordered from our Club Fundraiser were handed out. Next we talked about Secret Santa shopping which will be on Wednesday December 5th. We are meeting at 4 PM at the Ridge View Middle School. We are doing a stuffed animal and book drive and we need all books and animals by December 10th.

New Business: Beef weigh-in is January 5th from 1-3 PM for anyone showing cattle at the Sac County Fair. Anyone showing livestock needs to do YQCA training so watch the newsletter for more information. Remember the Valentines Dinner is Sunday February 10th tickets need to be turned in by January 20th , and plan to dress up.

November 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The new officers were installed this meeting. The November meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on November 18th, 2018 at 4:05 PM by Rachel Kenny. Roll Call was name your favorite Thanksgiving food with 19 members responding. The pledge to the American flag was led by Eryn, Emma, and Jaycey. The minutes were read by Cora with Logan Blum motioning to approve and Logan Pickhinke seconding. Eryn Schmitt read the treasures report, Alex Movall motioned to approve it and Alex Faist seconded it.

Old Business: We fist discussed how the club lock-in went and if everybody liked it. Then we talked about the awards event that was held in Wall Lake. We discussed what awards were received and what awards you could get from it. After that we talked about the fundraiser our club did and that you need to turn in any remaining money at the December Meeting. Also all pan orders were due at this meeting. Tray handed out the club program which has all of our meeting dates and activities for the year. Mark your calendars for Relay for Life, June 1st there has been no time set yet. We are still collecting pop tabs for Jacey, please bring them to the Elementary School in Schaller, the Middle School in Early, and the High School in Holstein. Trail Mix update, we made 253 bags and sent them to the elevators in Early and Schaller. Online enrollment needs to be done before the December meeting. Make sure you get your $10 dues to Eryn Schmitt.

New Business: The November 28th Cookie Baking day has been canceled because we were able to make all of the cookies at the Lock-in. Remember the December meeting is at 2 PM so we can deliver the goodie bags to the elderly, we will need drivers. Remember to bring your gift for the Christmas Gift Exchange only $5-8. We are doing Secret Santa again this year Logan Blum motioned to use $170 and Logan Pickhinke seconded it. We handed out the Valentines Dinner tickets which will be held on Sunday Feb 10th, if you need more tickets contact, Rachel or Tracy. The CWF trip is coming up for 9-12 graders on June 14th-22nd. It was discussed how much we should donate to the 4-H Endowment because they give grants for clubs and High School Seniors. Next on the agenda was State Recognition for grades 9-12 which is due February 1st on 4-H online. The theme this year for the fair is “A Universe of Possibilities”.

Opportunities: On January 15th there is a new 4-H Family Find Out Night. On Wednesday November 21st there is a Youth Thanksgiving Meal. On December 17th there is a Bee Keeping Workshop. On December 1st at ISU there is a Beef Blast. On April 13th there is a Livestock Quiz Bowl.

Joe Goettsch motioned to adjourn the meeting and Alex Movall seconded it. The 4-H pledge was led by Alex Movall and Ben Pickhinke. The hosts were Anna Schmitt and Eryn and Lauren Schmitt. Our next meeting is December 2nd at 2 PM.

October 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The October 2108 meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, October 21st at 4:01 pm. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Madelynn H. and Nora P. Roll call was “What is your favorite Halloween Candy?” with 20 members responding. The minutes were read by Rachel then motioned to be approved Logan Blum and seconded by Drew Blum. The treasurer’s report was read by Anna Schmitt.

The Election of Officers was held: Rachel Kenny was elected President, Alexis Turnquist - Vice President, Eryn Schmitt - Treasurer, Cora Devitt – Secretary, Grant Movall – Reporter, Joe Goettsch and Katie Pickhinke – Photographers, and Madelynn Horan – Public Relations. Citizenship Committee Chair -Alex Movall, Citizenship Committee -- Logan Pickhinke, Peyton Turnquist, Drew Blum, Healthy Living Officer -Emma Mentzer. Junior Leaders will be our senior members: Anna Schmitt and Rachel Kenny.

Old business: The club reviewed 4-H week activities with members wearing 4-H shirts to school, Early business windows decorated by Anna, Jacey and Alex F. then cleaned on a snowy day by Anna, Cora, Alexis, Connor and Logan P. Cora and Alexis spoke to 4th graders about joining 4-H. The Ida-Sac Skating party was another activity our club enjoyed during 4-H Week. Our club was the third best fundraising team in Sac County Relay for Life for money raised. Anna, Cora, and Alexis will be our youth volunteers for the Sac County Relay for Life committee. Multiple thank you notes from the summer were passed around and signed. Tracy explained that almost every member turned in a 4-H Record book by the October deadline.

We are still collecting for five-ton goal for Poptabs for Jacy and the Ronald McDonald House. The club voted to give $75 to members going on a state trip and $150 for members going on a national trip. Our club is starting a new communications mentoring program for older and younger members. Grant and Drew attended the Intermediate/Senior 4-H trip to the escape room and ISU Rodeo.

New Business: Fundraiser packets are due on November 5th, pick up will be on the 14th. Personalized pan orders are due at the November meeting. The club put together 253 trail mix baggies for farmers, to be put in local elevators. Members are encouraged to pay dues to our Treasurer, Eryn S. 4-H enrollments are starting and can be completed with the Sac County 4-H app or Click here

Sac County 4-H awards will be on November 4th at Wall Lake Community Center. Member should bring a salad or dessert item. Early Achievers Lock-in is November 16th at 7pm in the Early Methodist church. Sessions include: Teambuilding games, Escape Rooms, Cookie Baking, Goodie Bag Designing, Cubelets and Bee-Bots, sewing Hygiene Bundles, Pour Painted Christmas Ornaments, and Acrylic Wood Coasters and Acrylic Necklaces.

Joe motioned to adjourn the meeting and Alex F. seconded it; motion carries. The 4-H Pledge was led by Rachel and Katie. This meeting was hosted by Alexis, Kyson, Peyton, Cora, Emma, and Ross. Our next meeting will be Sunday, November 11th at 4 p.m.

September 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The September meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, September 16, at 4:05 p.m. by Alex Movall. Roll Call was name a ‘Favorite Fair Activity’ with ten members responding. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Grant and Logan B. The Secretary’s minutes were read by Eryn with Logan motioning to approve and Drew seconding. Anna read the Treasurer’s Report, Grant motioned to approve it and Drew seconded.

Old business: Drew Blum recapped the Sac County Fair. Alex Movall recapped the Iowa State Fair. Grant Movall recapped the Clay County Fair. Logan Blum recapped the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference that was held in June. Members were asked to bring pop tabs to school for Jacey’s goal of two tons. Jacy was a State 4-H Council Member who passed away this summer from cancer. Thank you notes were received from a family memorial and the Early Focus for working Crossroads Day inflatables. The 4-H Foundation sent a thank you for baking cookies for their golf tournament.

New Business: Members are reminded to send thank you notes to trophy and bonus auction donors. Record books are due to leaders by October 2nd with award form signed and filled out. 2018-2019 ‘dates to remember’ sheets were passed out, please mark your calendars. 4-H week is October 7-13, members are requested to wear 4-H shirts on October 10th, decorating windows is on Oct. 7th, 4-H skating at Ida Grove is on Oct. 14th, and volunteers will be talking to 4th graders. Trip funds will be voted on at the October meeting. Clover kids need helpers at each school, contact Steph at the Sac County Extension office if interested. Members are encouraged to do a working exhibit for communications with a younger member. 4-H County Council applications are due September 28th for high schoolers. Premium checks were delivered.

Opportunities: Healthy Living conference will be held at Clover Woods 4-H camp on October 20-21. An Intermediate and Senior trip to an escape house and ISU rodeo is on October 20th. Remember to check our website for upcoming events and photos at www.earlyachievers4h.com or our Facebook page.

Grant Movall motioned to adjourn the meeting and Logan B. seconded it; motion carries. The 4-H Pledge was led by Lauren S. and Grant. Logan B. gave his working exhibit “Measure Up” and Alex M gave his “Hog Finishing Barn” educational working exhibit. Members and leaders worked on team building and communication skills with the “A Frame” activity. This meeting was hosted by Katie Pickhinke. Our next meeting will be Sunday, October 21st at 4 p.m.

June 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The June meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, June 10th at 4:06 by Alex Movall. The pledge to the American Flag was led by Drew Blum and Grant Movall. The roll call was “Name your favorite thing to do with your father’, with 12 members responding. Rachel Kenny read the minutes from the April meeting. Grant moved to approved the minutes, and Joe seconded. Anna gave the Treasurer’s report. Megan moved to approve the treasurer’s report and Drew seconded.

Old business: Relay of Life report was given by Alex, Megan, and Anna. A lot of members participated, helped with games, and had a fun time. Flower planting report was given by Madelyn. Flowers were planted by 13 members. Megan explained what the silent auction endowment money goes to and that we will donate a grill set. 4-H t-shirts on sale for the fair, T-shirts are $10 and Polos are $22. Cooking baking for the Iowa 4-H Foundation golf outing will be on June 13th at 5 p.m. in the Methodist Church with six member volunteering.

New Business: Our club will be in the parades at Schaller and Early. Sac County camps will be $5, see the newsletter for options. Megan explained the club will collect pop tabs for Jacy and the Ronald McDonald House and can be turned in on Achievement Day. Achievement Day will be June 24th from 1-8pm. State 4-H conference will be from June 26th-28th. The state fair will be accepting volunteers that are 8th grade and above. The club booth decorating committee will consist of Grant, Nora, Logan, and Drew. Fair books were distributed to the club. Summer 4-H schedules were handed out. Megan read a thank you to the club.

May 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The May meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, May 16th at 4:15 p.m. Pledge to the American flag was led by Katie Pickhinke, Anna Schmitt, and Katie Brinkman. Roll call was ‘Name something your family does to have fun together’, with 16 members responding. Rachel read the Secretary report. Ben Pickhinke moved to approve the minutes, and Joe Goettsch seconded. Anna Schmitt read the Treasurer’s report, Ben Pickhinke moved to approve the Treasurer’s report and Joe seconded.

Old business: Sac County Endowment breakfast will be on May 28th, the tickets are due May 25th. Livestock exhibitors should complete YQCA by June 1st. State 4-H camps are available, see newsletter for options. The Healthy Living Challenge will be serving salads at the meal. Newly received 4-H shirts cost $10 for a t-shirt and $22 for a polo. Relay for Life is on June 2nd from 5:30-10:00pm. Flower planting budget is set, and our club will request a donation from the city. The Club received a thank you for our help at the Endowment fundraiser breakfast.

New business: Cookie baking produced 260 cookies for the Iowa 4-H Foundation Golf event. Dog obedience classes are available for showing dogs at the fair. Sac County Summer Camps are available with multiple options. Achievement Day is on June 24th and is required for members to enter fair projects. Early Crossroads Day Inflatables will need to be worked on July 21st from 11-5. Father-member meeting will have beanbags for an activity. State conference will have four members attending.

Joe motioned to adjourn the meeting and the Faith and Grace Freese seconded. Ben and Connor led the 4-H Pledge. Hosts were salads brought by the moms and Grace and Faith Freese. The senior moms and members shared 4-H memories and advice to fellow 4-H’ers. Recreation activities included making handprint flowers for Teacher’s Appreciation with Sac County Fair Queen Emma Degner and Archery with Mr. Lyons. April 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The April meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, April 22nd at 4:03pm. The pledge to the American flag was led by Lauren and Emma. Roll call was ‘Name the most fun thing has happened to you in 4-H this year’ with 21 members responding. The previous meeting’s minutes were read by Eryn Schmitt. The treasurer’s report was read by Megan.

Old Business: State awards report was presented by Barb. Logan Blum, Alex Movall and Connor Pickhinke each applied for State 4-H awards. Family Fun Night was celebrated at a hockey game and 40 family members attended. The Easter Egg Hunt was held inside the school in Early due to the cold weather this year. The derby pig weigh in report was presented by Steve Determan with eight kids attending. There will be eight soldier packs mailed out. Logan Blum led 9 members of our club to repaint Relay for Life ribbons. Relay for Life will be June 2nd from 5:30 to 10:00. Livestock exhibitors need to email Steph for a YQCA coupon. Healthy living challenge will be serving oranges and bananas with the meal. T-shirts will be ordered on Monday.

New Business: Sac County 4-H Endowment Breakfast is on May 28th members will sell 2 tickets. Youth show clinic will be at the Sac County Fairgrounds on April 24th. Jamie B. and Christy H. will be organizing the flower planting in Early. Ross will contact the local Legion for helping place the Memorial Day flags. Iowa 4-H Youth conference will start on June 26th for 8-12th graders. Sac Fairgrounds bleacher update report was led by Steve Determan. Let Logan Blum know if you can help paint the Schaller shelterhouse.

The meeting was adjourned and Joe and Alex led the 4-H pledge. April hosts were Lauren, Eryn and Savannah C.

March 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The March meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 4:03 p.m. by President Alex Movall. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Carson P. and Grant M. Twenty-five members answered Roll Call: “Name your favorite snack”. The Secretary minutes were read by Rachel Kenny, Joe G. motioned to approve the minutes and Drew B. seconded. Anna Schmitt gave the Treasurer’s report Logan motioned to approve the treasures report and Katie seconded it.

Old Business: Family Fun Night was on March 25, the event was Musketeer Hockey at 3:00pm. Early Easter Egg Hunt was hosted March 31st members hid the eggs at 9:00am, members wore 4-H shirts. Jen is still looking for t-shirt sizes for those members or parents who would like to order. YQCA has eight members from the club showing livestock. Junior Lock in went well in Sac City. Relay for Life is June 2nd 5:30-10:00 p.m. Ribbon painting will be at Determans and led by Logan Blum. The theme for our RFLcamp will be “Knock Cancer Off the Board”and theme laps will be decided by our committee. Soldier packs will be led by Alexis, Faith and Grace. Two members will be

New Business: State award interviews are March 24th with three members participating. We voted to donate $6.50 per member to 4-H’ers for 4-H. Our club is donating to the show ring bleachers at the fairgrounds this year. Tractor safety course is available.

February 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

At 4:00 pm Javier Tuel from Tuel Shed Training came to the Early Achievers meeting and led the club in a twenty minute workout. He gave members a lesson to fight the obesity epidemic with fitness and ‘Believe’ health journals.

The February meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 4:32 p.m. by President Alex Movall. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Ross and Logan. Twenty-three members answered Roll Call: “Name a United States president”. The Secretary minutes were read by Rachel Kenny, Ross motioned to approve the minutes and Grace seconded. Anna Schmitt gave the Treasurer’s report. Faith motioned to approve the Treasurers report, and Grant seconded.

Old Business: The Valentine Dinner served 240 customers. The Valentines for widows help 32 widows, with six members helping deliver them. If members need new shirts check sizes and let Jen know if you need one. YQCA online learning needs to be completed by the end of May for livestock exhibiters. Eight members attended the county ski trip in Boone. Country Junior Lock-in was February 23-24, registration was due to Steph February 9th. Ten dollar dues need to be payed to the treasurer. The club still needs deployed soldier addresses.

New Business: Family fun night will be attending a hockey game and the date is still being decided. Easter Egg hunt is March 31st at 10 a.m. Members should attend at 9 a.m. Derby swine weigh-in for the sac county fair is April 14th from 8:30-9:30am. A relay for life committee was made with l10 members. Painting class is available on March 17th 9-11am, contact Steph for more info. Grant motioned to adjourn the meeting and Ross seconded it. The 4-H pledge was led by Cora and Grace. Hosts were Emma, Ross, Alexis, Cora, Peyton, and Kyson. Alexis gave a presentation on the reptile Bearded Dragons.

January 2018 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

The January meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:06 p.m. by President Alex Movall. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Madelynn, Faith, and Eryn. Twenty-three members answered Roll Call: “Name a 4-H New Year’s Resolution”. The Secretary minutes were read by Rachel Kenny. Anna Schmitt gave the Treasurer’s report. Logan Blum motioned to approve the Treasurers report, and Drew Blum seconded.

Old Business: State 4-H Award Applications are due February 1st with four members intending to participate. Valentine Dinner is February 11th, all members should be there by 4:10 p.m. Members were trained at the meeting on their Valentine dinner job. Seniors will decorate the ceiling and tables will be set up by all members. Valentine balloons will be added on the day of the Valentine dinner.

Beef weigh-in verifications are due by February 1st, with four members participating in beef this year. Those members needing new 4-H –shirts should talk to Jen. The club received five Christmas thank-you notes for delivering goodie bags and caroling. Logan P. and Logan B. received a grant from the Sac County 4-H Endowment to purchase pillows at Christmas time.

New Business: Valentines delivery will be February 10th led by Anna Schmitt. Ten livestock exhibitors will complete online YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) training. Country Ski Trip to Seven Oaks in Boone, IA will be on February 16-17. Sac County Junior Lock-In is February 23-24. Anna, Megan, Connor and Alex were recognized for using their communications skills and earning a “I” rating at High School Speech competition.

Drew Blum motioned to adjourn the meeting and Logan Pickhinke seconded it. The 4-H pledge was led by Katie and Lauren. Hosts were Nora and Ben Pickhinke and Megan Drey. Logan Blum gave a presentation on Rabbits. Recreation was Making Valentines led by Anna Schmitt.
