December 2017 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The December meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, December 3rd at 3:00 p.m. by President Alex Movall. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Savannah, Emma, and Beth. Twenty-seven members answered Roll Call: “Name a Gift you want to give someone”. The Secretary minutes were read by Rachel Kenny. Logan Blum motioned to approve the Secretary’s Report. Anna Schmitt gave the Treasurer’s report.
Old Business: Remember to go to 4-H Online Enrollment and pay dues. Please check your sizes and let Jen know if you need a new Early Achievers t-shirt or polo. Laurie gave us a final Fundraiser wrap-up. Cookie baking was a success. We baked and decorated 288 cookies with 19 workers. Secret Santa shoppers met on Dec. 6th at 4pm at the RV Middle School. Nine members shopped for a boy and girl and hygiene and food items to donate to the Early Food Pantry. Colleen Hansen with the Schaller-Crestland Ministerial Toy Drive picked up 40 Pillows and 132 Books donated by the Early Achievers. Early Achievers 4-H Alumni, Elizabeth (Feilmeier) Smith donated 40 pillowcases for the pillows. Future Sac County workshops available read newsletter for details. Citizenship Washington Focus trip is available to ninth graders and older. Jen reminds us as Healthy Club Wellness Challenge continues, we can add activity with walking, ‘Ships and Sailors’ game, water and fruit (like clementines) to all meetings. Members were given Valentine Dinner tickets to sell. The Dinner will be held on Feb. 11th with tickets due Jan 21st.
New Business: Beef weigh-In is January 6th from 1-3 pm. State award applications are due Feb. 1st for those in ninth grade and above. Sac County Junior Lock-in will be February 23 and 24. Megan Drey motioned to adjourn the meeting and Drew Blum seconded it. The 4-H pledge was led by Grant Movall and Logan Blum.
The Early Achievers delivered 41 Goodie bags with fruit, cookies and rice heating pads. Thank you to our parent drivers. Following the meeting, members enjoyed playing games, exchanging gifts, and eating pizza. Then next meeting will be January 21st.

Early Achievers 4-H Club donated 40 pillows and 132 books to S-C Ministerial Toy Drive. Thanks to Elizabeth Feilmeier Smith (EA alumni) for sewing and donating the pillowcases. They will bring many smiles at Christmas this year!
19 Early Achievers 4-H Club members baked and frosted 288 cookies after school on Wednesday, Nov. 29th. The cookies will be delivered in 41 Goodie Bags on Sunday, Dec. 3rd.
Secret Santa shoppers: 9 members of the Early Achievers 4-H Club shopped for a lucky boy and girl this Christmas season. Food Pantry donations: Members donated hygiene and food items to the Early Food Pantry.
November 2017 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
In November, the Early Achievers had installation of 2017-18 officers, junior leaders, and introduction of 11 new members. The November meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, November 19th at 4:00 by President Alex Movall. The Pledge to the American flag was led by Grace Freese. Twenty six members answered Roll Call of “Name something you are Thankful for”. The Secretary minutes were read by Rachel Kenny. Anna Schmitt gave the Treasurer’s report.
Old Business included: Members were reminded to go to 4-H Online to enroll and also pay dues to our treasurer. Sac Country Awards Event was held at the Sac County Fairgrounds on November 5th. Eighteen members completed record books to earn many awards. Nine Early Achievers members were installed into 2017-18 Sac County 4-H Council. Firemen Appreciation Supper was hosted by the club’s Senior 4-H members with 18 firefighter/EMS families attending. Early Achiever Club Lock-In was held on November 17th at the Methodist Church in Early with 25 members and 3 visitors participating in sewing, woodworking, Cubelets, crafts, cooking, communication games and more. Thank you to everyone who supported our frozen foods fundraiser. Relay for Life Ribbons will be repainted, a committee will be led by Logan Blum.
New Business: Steph Erpelding told us about a new Healthy Club Challenge to encourage us to add fruits, vegetables and exercise at meetings. Cookie Baking was planned for November 29th after school. We baked and decorated nearly 300 cookies for our Goodie bags to be delivered before our December meeting. Logan Pickhinke asked if our club would donate money for Secret Santa committee to purchase 3 meals and adopt a boy and girl again. Club also voted to donate money for books and 40 pillows for Schaller-Crestland Ministerial Association Toy Drive.
December Meeting will be at 2:00 PM when goodie bags will be delivered and member gift exchange will take place. Mark your calendar for Valentine Dinner on February 11th, tickets were given to club members to sell. Pledge to the 4-H flag was led by Drew Blum and Ross Mentzer. Recreation was led by Alex Movall and Logan Blum with a cup and rubber band challenge. Connor shared his “Soils” working exhibit. November hosts were Anna Schmitt and Joe Goettsch. The next meeting will be December 3, 2017.

October 2017 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The October Meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order at 4:19 P.M. on October 25th, 2017 by Connor Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by Lauren Schmitt and Megan Drey. Roll Call was “Name your favorite Halloween candy” with 25 members responding. Megan Drey read the minutes from the September meeting. Logan Blum motioned to approve the September minutes and Logan Pickhinke seconded it; motion carries. Rachel Kenny gave the Treasurer’s Report. Alex Movall presented a bill; Logan Blum motioned to accept the bill and Joe Goettsch seconded; motion carries. A citizenship bill was presented; Grant Movall motioned to accept the bill and Drew Blum seconded; motion carries. Logan Pickhinke motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Joe Goettsch seconded it; motion carries.
Old business includes: Remember to go 4-H Online and enroll in 4-H for the new year. Dues are $10, the same as last year. Megan Drey explained wat Relay For Life is to our new members and said that we are the top team in Sac County with what we raised. Congrats! The Relay For Life ribbons need to be repainted; Logan Blum said he’d lead this project. Megan read Thank You notes that we had received. Everybody who turned in a record book stood up. 4-H Week was reviewed: Megan Drey gave us an update on how window painting and washing went; everyone wore their 4-H shirts on Wednesday; and the people who attended the Roller Skating Party in Ida Grove said it was fun. The STEM event at BVU was mentioned, but no one had gone to it. Logan Pickhinke said we should get a head start on Penny Wars this year. Bring your pennies to the next meeting!
New business includes: Rachel Kenny handed out our annual fundraiser of pies and soups. Make sure you turn it in with the payments by November 6th. The pick-up is Wednesday, November 15 at the church. We received new club programs from the leaders. Remember that Sac County Awards night is November 5th at 5 P.M. at the Sac County 4-H building; remember to bring a salad or dessert when you come! Megan Drey told us that the Fireman’s Supper will be November 12th at the Sacred Heart School. It will be hosted by the Senior members and the Junior and Intermediates are asked to provide a salad or a dessert. Our club Lock-In is November 17th at 7 P.M.; remember to eat supper before you come and to leave your electronics at home! Jen talked about things we can do at our club level to stay healthy. Tracy said that Steph wants us to participate in the Straw Poll.
We held the Election of Officers: President - Alex Movall, Vice President – Connor Pickhinke, Secretary – Rachel Kenny, Treasurer – Anna Schmitt, Reporter – Logan Pickhinke, Photographer – Logan Blum, Public Relations – Katie Pickhinke and Emma Mentzer, and Citizenship Committee – Drew Blum, Joe Goettsch, and Chairman Grant Movall. The officers will be inducted at the November meeting
Logan Blum motioned to adjourn the meeting and Ross Mentzer seconded it; motion carries. The 4-H Pledge was led by Drew Blum and Emma Mentzer. September 2017 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The September Meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order at 4:08 P.M. on September 17th, 2017 by Connor Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by Ben Pickhinke and Drew Blum. Roll Call was “What’s your favorite thing to do at the fair?” with 13 members responding. Megan Drey read the minutes from the June meeting. Logan Pickhinke motioned to approve the June minutes and Logan Blum seconded it; motion carries. Anna Schmitt gave the Treasurer’s Report. Old business includes: Ben Pickhinke gave us a report on the Sac County Fair and said it as successful. We won Penny Wars. Megan handed out Iron Chef Ribbons. If you’re missing anything from your Pride of Iowa or Iron Chef, let Steph know. Logan Blum talked about working in the 4-H building at the Iowa State Fair. Our club had many communication events at the State Fair. Good Job to everyone! We had many members do the clothing event at the Clay County fair and the Movall’s showed pigs. Connor Pickhinke gave us a report about going to State Conference in June. We had four members go from our club. Good Job to everyone who helped with events this summer!
New business includes: Make sure you sign the Thank You’s before you leave. Megan Drey read a thank you from the Pickhinke family. County Council applications are due September 22nd. All senior members can apply. Barb would also like to have a meeting with senior members on Wednesday, September 20th at 7 p.m. Record Books are due to the leaders by October 1st. You can drop it off at HMG by Friday, September 29th by 4 p.m. If you need help, contact a leader. 4-H Week is October 1st through October 7th. Wear your 4-H shirt on Wednesday, October 4th. Megan Drey will head up Window Painting again this year and Logan Blum, Grace Freese, Faith Freese, and Anna Schmitt will help her. Meet at 5 p.m. at HMG on October 1st. The Skating Party is October 14th at Ida Grove and it’s free to 4-Her’s. Bring new members to the October meeting. Alex Movall talked about the upcoming STEM event at BVU on October 7th from 9-3:30 p.m. It is for 4th through 8th graders and is free. Talk to Tracy for registration. It’s the beginning of the 4-H year again! See the newsletter for information on how to enroll online. Pay $10 to Rachel for dues. The goal is for everyone to be registered by Lock-In! Laurie handed out Premium Checks. Make sure you sign up to be a host or do a presentation before you leave. Awards Night is November 5th in Sac City. It is a dress up event; more information will come at the next meeting.

April 2017 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The April Meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order at 4:02 P.M. on April 9th, 2017 by Alex Movall. The pledge to the American flag was led by Logan Pickhinke and Grant Movall. Roll Call was “What’s your favorite Easter candy?” with 20 members responding. Megan Drey read the March minutes. Joe Goettsch motioned to approve the March minutes and Grant Movall seconded it. Logan Blum gave the Treasurer’s Report. Grant Movall motioned to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Logan Pickhinke seconded it.
Old business includes: The Early Easter Egg Hunt will be on April 15 at 9 A.M., we will set up at 9. Drew Blum gave a report about Family Fun Night. The Sac County Relay For Life will be on June 10th at the East Sac middle school gym. The theme is Destination: Cure. Megan Drey wrapped up the Valentine’s Day Dinner saying that we received many compliments this year. Grant Movall motioned to donate more than 50% of the profit to Relay For Life and Logan Pickhinke seconded. Anna Schmitt talked about the Summer Reading Program. Alex Movall will need setting putting new boards on the city baseball field’s bleachers, 7th-12th graders will meet on May 7th at 10:30 A.M. to help. Alex Movall reported about the bean bag boards. Jamie and Logan Blum reported about the town flowers; a budget is on hold until next meeting. Logan Pickhinke will let us know a date for his landscaping project.
New business includes: Ranch Relief tickets will be due April 24th to Megan Drey or Heartland Marketing. A dog obedience class will be held every Thursday until fair. Tracy reported that there is a show clinic April 17th & 18th at the Cherokee fairground if you are going to show. Crossroads day is July 14th-16th and we get to man the inflatables again. We discussed getting a barrel train for out float in the parade. Operation Engage is June 24th at Prairie Peddler. A committee was chosen for decorating our fair booth. The NW Iowa Golf Tournament is June 17. Logan Pickhinke motioned to bake cookies again this year and Drew Blum seconded it. A date to bake will be chosen at the next meeting.

Megan Drey told us about window washing and cleaning for this year’s 4-H week activities. The Sac-Ida 4-H skating party had eleven members from the Early Achievers 4-H Club attend. Jon Pickhinke told us that Sac County Award Day is Nov. 6th at 5 p.m. at the Early Sacred Heart gym hosted by the Nemaha 4-H club. Each family should bring a salad or dessert. Minute to Win It games will be played so everyone is invited to attend Sac County Award Day. Jen Movall and Laurie Kenny handed out packets containing catalogs for our 4-H fundraisers this year. We are selling personalized pans, mugs, etc. and frozen cutout cookies and foods. Megan told us that she will be having a Pajama Drive in the nearby churches and schools to donate at Christmas time with a storybook. We found out the Relay for Life committee will be giving us a pizza party at the December meeting for our hard work last April. The 2017 Relay for Life will be on June 10th at the East Sac Schools Elementary gym.
New business includes: We received new club programs from the leaders. Members were reminded that November 11th will be our club lock-in. Bring Pajamas sizes newborn to 10-12 to donate!

Logan Blum moved to adjourn the meeting and Logan Pickhinke seconded. The 4-H Pledge was led by Katie Brinkman and Ross Mentzer. Hosts were Jon, Beth, and Katie Pickhinke serving BBQ sandwiches. Presentations were given by Logan Blum about his Washington DC trip, Drew Blum about Tortoises, Cove Noe about Chickens, and Logan Pickhinke about Stars for Our Troops. We helped cut and packaged 100 embroidered stars for the Ridge View Middle School Veteran’s Day program.

September 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The September meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on September 18, 2016 by Jon Pickhinke. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Connor Pickhinke and Logan Blum. Roll Call was “Name Your Favorite Thing To Do at the Fair”. The secretary minutes were read by Katie Brinkman. Megan Drey gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business: Recap of the Sac County Fair including our rankings in the Herdsmanship (we received 2nd in Beef, 1st in Sheep, and 1st in Swine). Our Sac County Fair premium checks were handed out. The Early Achievers won the Penny Wars and received a portion of the money collected. Alex Movall, Drew Blum, and Nora Pickhinke recapped the Clay County Fair. Rachel Kenny, Grant Movall, and Connor P. recapped the Iowa State Fair and how well our club did. Megan Drey told us that we received a check from Novus for packing the bags and we decided to donate the money to Relay for Life. Ben talked about the landscaping project on the north side of Early Community Building. Barb told us about the Future community service projects we will and can do in the upcoming year. She also told us that if we have a bucket from the Sac County junk bucket challenge we should bring it to Steph at the Extension office as soon as possible. We received Thank you notes from Relay for Life and Operation Engage America.
New business discussed: Tracy told us that Record books will be due September 29 to the leaders so that they can read them. Barb told us to re-enroll online for the upcoming 4-H year. Megan Drey will be window painting for 4-H week and will need people to help her on October 2nd at 2 p.m. Jon told us that on October 8th the Ida-Sac 4-H skating party will be from 6-9 pm and all members are welcome to come. Jon also told us that Sac County Council Applications are due September 30th. Sac County Awards Event will be Sunday, November 6 at 5pm and is hosted by the Nemaha 4-H Club. Barb told us CWF (Citizenship Washington Focus) trip will be in June of 2017. Prudential Spirit Community Awards deadline is November 8th. Megan Drey wants us to mark our calendars for June 10th for Sac County Relay for Life. Megan will be hosting a pajama and book drive.
The meeting was adjourned and the 4-H pledge was led by Anna Schimitt and Logan Pickhinke.

Presentations were given the participants of the State and Clay Fairs: Working exhibits by Connor and Logan Pickhinke- “Super Shooters”; and Rachel Kenny and Megan Drey “Popsicle Stick Puzzles”.
Next meeting will be October 16th at 4 p.m.

June 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The June meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, June 12th at 4:00 by Vice-president Beth Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by Connor P. and Joe G. Roll Call was ”Favorite Activity to do with your Dad” was answered by 24 members. The secretary minutes were read by Katie Brinkman. Megan Drey gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business includes: Tracy Pickhinke reminded us about the 4 upcoming Achievement Days and to think about what projects we want to bring. Members are encouraged to join the Club Share the Fun. Logan Blum recapped us with the recent Operation Engage America that was held at Prairie Peddler on Saturday, June 4th. Megan reported about the club’s flower planting at the town sign and downtown Early. Several community members have donated money to be used to purchase these flowers. Hannah told us about our summer reading program and how great a success it was. Finally Barb and Ben explained how they re-landscaped the Early City/Community building recently. We are trying to find a date to complete the travel pillowcases before fair.
New business discussed: Grant Movall motioned to participate in the Crossroads Day parade this year and if we would work the inflatables from 11 to 3 p.m. on July 16th, we voted and decide to help. Jen Movall asked if we wanted to ride a float in the Schaller Popcorn Days parade, our club also decided to participate on July 9th. Alex Movall wanted to know if our club would help him painting/ switching fiberglass bleachers to wood ones after the baseball season.
We discussed baking 500 cookies for the Iowa 4H Foundation golf tournament on June 12th; a small committee volunteered to help on June 14th. Alex Pickhinke volunteered to be in charge of decorating the fair booth and Jamie Blum volunteered to help him. The theme this year is “Dive to New Depths”. Five members of the Early Achievers plan to attend the Iowa 4H conference from June 29th to July 1st in Ames.
Barb told us about the changes at the Sac County Fairgrounds this year including; laser tag, painting the arena and cattle barn, and the youth center projects. Tracy talked about the Sac County peach jam workshop and the cinnamon roll workshop taught by Steph in June and July. Beth Pickhinke told us Communications Day, Wednesday, June 13th. Megan D. will chair our basket to donate to the Sac County 4H Foundation Silent Auction at the Sac County Fair. Members are reminded of cleanup before the Sac Fair in the swine barn and after the Sac Fair in the 4H Building kitchen, stage and bathrooms. Sign up sheets will be available at Achievement Days for working the 4H concession stand and club patrol at the Sac County Fair.
The meeting was adjourned and the 4-H pledge was led by Luke Brinkman and Eryn Schmidt. Hosts were the club and Rachel and Zach Kenny. Presentations were given my Grace Freese, Faith Freese, and Alex Movall. The high school seniors presented Barb and Steve with a signed photo to thank them for their help and guidance through their 4H years. After the meeting was the annual Father-Member softball game. Sadly the Fathers team continue their winning streak.

May 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The May Mother- Member meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 4:00 by Vice President Beth Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by John Schmitt and Luke Brinkman. Roll Call was answered by 27 members: “Favorite thing to do with your Mom”. The secretary minutes were read by Katie Brinkman. Megan Drey gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business includes: Connor Pickhinke reported about the Family Bowling Fun Night held on April 30th at Indian Lanes in Sac City. Hannah reported the Early Achievers Relay for Life Team received a certificate for 3rd place in fundraising in Sac County. Early Achiever 4-H Polo Shirts price is 26 dollars buy now from Jen if you want one. Our club volunteered to work games at “Operation Engage America: Bridging the Gap Festival” and Fundraiser at the Prairie Pedlar that is coming up on June 4th. Barb Determan reminded us to sell 4-H Endowment Breakfast tickets to be held on Memorial Day, May 30th from 8 AM to Noon. Lamb and Goat weigh in will be May 7th. Members should complete Livestock IDs due online on May 15th. Alex told us about the Iowa 4-H Conference coming up on June 28th through the 30th and that all 8th to 12th graders are welcome to attend.
New business was discussed including: Barb told us about the Achievement Day schedule that everyone needs to sign up for a time. Hannah talked about planting flowers in Early and we voted on a budget. Anna and Eryn Schmidt have decided to assist Hannah with the Summer Library Program. Library Story hour will be June 8, 15, 22, and 29th from 9 to 10:30 AM. Workshops to help members complete pillowcases, write ups, communications, clothing, and woodworking will be held in the future. Members interested in leading community service/citizenship opportunities should contact Barb.
The meeting was adjourned and the 4-H pledge was led by Jacob Brinkman and Ross Mentzer. Presentations were given by John and Anna Schmitt, Abby Clark, Drew Blum and Connor Pickhinke. Seven graduating seniors were honored and Senior Moms shared memories and advice to younger members. Hosts were Grant and Alex Movall and Eryn Schmidt and each family brought a salad to share.
The next meeting will be June 12th with a Father-Member Softball game.

April 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The April meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, April 17th at 4:00 by Vice President Beth Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by Faith Freese and Connor Pickhinke. Roll Call was answered by 23 members: “What do you look forward to this spring break?” The secretary minutes and several “Thank You” notes were read by Katie Brinkman. Old business includes: Our club raised over $2000 for Sac County Relay for Life. Alex Movall reported that our Club’s Relay for Life games and Bean Bag Tournament were successful again this year. Derby swine weigh in report was given by special guest CYO Steph Erpelding. The club also discussed the Family Fun night coming up on April 30th in Sac City. Members interested in ordering a club Polo are to contact Jen Movall. Coming up also is the Lamb and Meat Goat weigh-in on May 7th from 9-11:00. The Club also decided to work at the games for Operation Engage at Prairie Pedlar on June 4th.
New business was discussed including: Steph Erpelding told us about the 4-H Endowment Breakfast tickets are now for sale. Each member should sell two tickets for the May 30th breakfast. Alex Pickhinke talked about the Iowa 4-H Conference coming on June 28-30. The 4-H theme will be “Dive to New Depths”. Barb told us about Livestock IDs online due May 15th. There will also be FSQA Training in Pocahontas on June 10th or in Cherokee on June 20th. Members are encouraged to attend the Livestock Clinic on May 16 in Cherokee to learn about sheep, swine and beef. Anyone interested in Adopting a Cabin at the Iowa 4-H Camp should contact Barb for more details.

March 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The March meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, March 20th at 4:00 by President Jon Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by Grant M. and Cove N. Roll Call was “What was your favorite Easter Candy. The secretary minutes were read by Katie Brinkman. Megan Drey gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business includes: Connor Pickhinke talked about the great turnout at the Early Achievers Easter Egg Hunt held on March 19th. Hannah Felmier talked about the Sac County Jr. Lock-in. The Sac County Relay for Life will be held on April 2nd at the East Sac middle school gym. The theme is Relay through the Decades. High School and 8th grade member should plan to help with the Call-a-Thon on March 21 and 22nd. Connor talked about the Early Achiever Family Fun Night that the club decided will be on April 30th. Jen Movall told us about the new Early Achiever 4-H Polos that members and leaders can buy. We also received Thank You notes from New Opportunities and from Wanda Bolton.
New business was discussed including: The Derby Swine weigh-in on April 9th from 9:00 to 10:30 and the Lamb & Meat Goat weight-in on May 7th from 9:00 to 11:00. Members voted to be in the Early Crossroads and Schaller Popcorn Days parades this summer. Anyone wanting to co-chair the Flower planting Committee should contact Hannah F. The Club voted to donate $5 per member for 4-H-ers for 4-H and challenges other clubs in Sac County to donate the same.

February 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The February meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on Sunday, February 21st at 4:00 by Jon Pickhinke. The pledge to the American flag was led by Ben Pickhinke and Beth Pickhinke. Roll call answered by 32 members was “What was your favorite part of the Valentine Dinner or Club Lock-in?” The secretary minutes were not read. Megan Drey gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business included: Valentine Dinner received lots of compliments from community. Early Achiever Lock-In had a great turn out. We had rockets, woodworking (cutting boards), sewing travel pillowcases, write ups, Iron chef, recreation, and other fun workshops. Enrollment Dues and T-shirts are ten dollars most have been paid for; Sac County Junior Lock-in was February 26th and 27th.
New business was discussed including: Connor Pickhinke will be the chairperson for the Early Easter Egg Hunt. The Egg Hunt will be held at 10 AM on March 19th in or by the Early Middle School depending on the weather. Sac County Relay for Life will be April 2nd and all of the money from our games will go towards cancer research. Alex Movall will be chairperson of the Relay for Life Games committee. Bank night for Relay for Life will be March 31st. The Early Achievers Family Fun Night is being planned by a committee that met after the meeting. Ben Pickhinke reported about the ice fishing clinic he attended in Lake View. Logan Blum is planning a Citizenship project- he plans to have our club make cards with candy lifesaver and giving it to firefighters in Sac County. Senior 4-H members are reminded to complete Sac County 4-H Scholarship applications.
The meeting was adjourned and the 4-H pledge was led by Eryn Schmidt and Drew Blum. Hosts serving walking tacos were Alex, Connor, Logan Pickhinke and Marcus Prell. Our recreation game was “Frogger”.

January 2016 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The January meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on January 17th, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. The pledge to the American flag was led by Katie Brinkman and John Schmidt. Roll call was “Name a favorite Christmas Present” with 30 members responding. The secretary minutes were read by Katie Brinkman. Many thank you notes were received from community members after our Goodie bag deliveries in December. Megan Drey gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business includes: Valentine Dinner will be held on February 14th. Tickets that members sold were due. Early Achiever Club Lock-in was rescheduled to Friday, February 19th (from November). Members who haven’t done so are encouraged to complete enrollment at 4hOnline.com. Please pay dues to our treasurer, Megan Drey. New Early Achiever 4-H Club t-shirts have been delivered. FSQA (for those members showing animals) will be March 12 in Ida Grove or you can check the Sac County Newsletter if you missed it in December. Beef Weigh-in report was given by those showing beef.
New business was discussed including: 4-H Recognition and 4-H Scholarship Applications are Due February 1st. Sac County Jr. Lock-in will be February 26-27th at the Sac City Rec Center. Relay for Life will be April 2nd in Sac Elementary Gym the theme is “Through the Decades”. Our club will be planning games, a call-a-thon and cake walk for Relay for Life. Early Egg Hunt is planned to be on March 19 at 10 AM in Early.
The meeting was adjourned and the 4-H pledge was led by Connor Pickhinke and Grant Movall. Marcus Prell and Austin Goettsch led “Farm Headbands” recreation. Hosts were Katie, Jacob, and Luke Brinkman and Ben and Nora Pickhinke.
After the meeting the Early Achievers stuffed 3000 bags with pens and papers to be handed out at ag shows. The activity helped the Club as a community service and fundraiser for Relay for Life.
The next meeting will be February 21st at 4 p.m.

December 2015 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
At the beginning of the December meeting we delivered 42 goodie bags of cookies, hot chocolate and fruit to the elderly of Early. The December Meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on December 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The pledge to the American flag was led by Rachel Kenny and Katie Pickhinke. Roll call was, “What Do you want for Christmas” with 26 members responding. The minutes were read by Hannah Feilmeier, secretary pro tem. The treasurer’s report was done by Megan Drey.
Old business includes: members should complete the Online Enrollment. Club dues are $10 and should be paid to treasurer, Megan Drey. New club T-Shirts are for sale for $10. Fundraiser report was given and fundraiser was very successful. Our Club Lock in will be rescheduled in the future, the date is unknown. Secret Santa shopping will be Dec. 9th after school. Our club has adopted a boy and a girl to buy toys and clothes. Membership stickers and certificates were passed out.
New business was discussed including: FSQA training will be December 29th between 9 and 11 a.m. Beef weigh in will be January 2nd from between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Peyton feed lot. Early Achievers Valentines Dinner will be Sunday, February 14th. Members are to watch their e-mail for more information, and you will be receiving packets of tickets to sell. Food pantry will be receiving 4000 pounds of food and members are encouraged to help with truck unloading at Sacred Heart Church on December 7th at 3:30 p.m. A pillowcase sewing workshop is planned over Christmas break.

November 2015 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club
The November Meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H club was called to order on November 15, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. The pledge to the American flag was led by Ross Mentzer and Eryn Schmidt. Roll call was, “What is your favorite Thanksgiving food” with 29 members responding. The minutes were read by Megan Drey. Connor Pickhinke gave the treasurer’s report.
Our new officers were installed. 2015-16 officers include: President Jon Pickhinke, Vice-President Beth Pickhinke, Secretary Katie Brinkman, Treasurer Megan Drey, Reporter Connor Pickhinke, Photographers Katie Pickhinke, Ross Mentzer, and Alex Movall, Public Relations Abby Clark, Rachel Kenny, and Logan Pickhinke, Citizenship committee Anna Schmitt and Drew Blum. Eight new members installed were Joe Goettsch, Mallory Schwaller, Emma Mentzer, Nora Pickhinke, Laruen Schmitt, Cove Noe, Autumn Riley, Keely Riley. Junior leaders installed include Austin Goettsch, Abby Clark, Hannah Feilmeier, Brooke Hoeppner, Alex Pickhinke, Zach Kenny and Marcus Prell.
Old business includes: Members should complete the Online Enrollment at iowa.4honline.com. Club dues are $10 and should be paid to Megan Drey, Treasurer. New club T-Shirts are being designed and Jen M. needs sizes. Sac County Awards Day report was given. Record books are being returned to our members. Fundraiser Pick-up will be Wednesday, November 18th from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.
New business was discussed including: Early Achievers Lock-in will be this Friday, November 20th at the church, starts at 7:30 p.m., pickup is Saturday morning between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. For our Club Secret Santa citizenship project, we bought 3 Holiday meals and will be “adopting” a boy and a girl. The October Meeting of the Early Achievers 4-H Club was called to order at 4:25 P.M. on October 18th, 2015 by Brooke. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Logan P. and Logan B. Roll Call was “What is your favorite Halloween candy?” Megan read the September Minutes. Logan B. motioned to approve the minutes and Faith seconded it. Connor read the Treasurer’s Report. Grace motioned to approve the Treasure’s Report and Ben seconded it. We elected officers; President-Jon P., Vice President-Beth, Secretary-Katie B., Treasurer-Megan, Reporter-Connor, Photographer-Katie P., Ross, and Alex M., Public Relations-Rachel, Abby, and Logan P., Citizenship Chairman-Anna and Drew.
Old Business was online enrollment, make sure you enroll for the upcoming 4-H year ASAP. 4-H week was October 4th-10th. The skating party was on October 4th in Ida Grove. We participated in a window decorating contest. High School students talked to 3rd graders. We will be ordering new club t-shirts our committee choose charcoal gray. County awards day will be on November 1st. We are hosting in Early it will start at 4:30 and there will be a catered supper afterwards. Each family should bring a salad to share. RSVP with Steph at the extension office. Laurie handed out fundraising material. They are due to Barb’s office by November 10th.
New Business was premium checks were handed out. We did a good job as a club this year at the fair. Club dues need to be paid. Club lock-in will be on November 20th. September 2015 Meeting Early Achievers 4-H Club

Roll Call was “What is your favorite thing you did this summer?” with 26 members responding. Megan read the June Minutes. Connor read the Treasurer’s Report. Logan P. motioned to approve the Treasure’s Report and John S. seconded it.
Old Business was Sac County Fair Wrap-Up. We won penny wars again this year, and we won $31.95 for that. We also won beef herdsmanship and got $45. Hannah F. was the Sac County Fair queen and got to participate at the Iowa State Fair. Iowa State Fair wrap-up, congratulations to all that exhibited at the state fair. We represented our club well. Clay County Fair wrap-up, nice job by everyone who participated.
New business was online enrollment, make sure you enroll for the upcoming 4-H year. 4-H week will be the 4th-10th.
